Assalamu alaikum,

Sheikh what is the ruling for a pregnant lady who had intention to fast the day at the sahar time, but later during the day she felt very weak and headache? Can she break and what is the option, i mean how to compensate for that?

Assalamu alaikum

If a pregnant lady began the fast but then felt weak to the extent of feeling headache due to weakness, then it is permissible for her to break her fast during Ramadan.

She would then do Qada for the number of days she missed like that during Ramadan (due to pregnancy related weakness) by fasting that many days outside Ramadan.  She does not do fidyah according to the strongest opinion of scholars.   If she could not do all her Qada by next Ramadan due to breast feeding the new born etc, then there is no harm and she may do Qada whenever she is able to afterwards when she is not pregnant or breast feeding.

Allah knows best.

Wassalamualaikum
