How was the Qur'an preserved, and are there different versions?

There has been increased efforts by the Christians and other missionaries to undermine Islam and sow doubts in the hearts of Muslims.

One of the issues they constantly raise is the question of how the Qur'an was preserved and they say that there are variations in the Qur'an and different versions.

Unfortunately these missionaries are bent on evil and have been able to cause many of the normal Muslims to lose their Islam or at least put doubts in their hearts.  Alhamdulillah, the scholars of Islam from the earliest times, from Rasool (S), his Companions and the early generations have always preserved and guarded all aspects of our faith.

Shaykh, please could you give us a short history of the compilation of the Qur'an and expose the false claims made by these people, especially when they assert that the Qur'an has different versions.

Alhamdulillah, many Muslims are finding out the truth and becoming firm.
