Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,
I just skimmed through the following article from BBC about some of the causes of the Bangladesh floods:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8144223.stmSome of the things that are attributed to the floods are:
- Rising sea levels
- Erratic monsoon patterns
- Increasing salinity of the Ganges
- etc.
BUT...One of the greatest causes of the floods in Bangladesh is actually man-made and preventable...
it is the illegal behaviour of Bangladesh's neighbour (no prize for guessing who that is) - who so cunningly open the flood (sluice) gates upstream of Bangladesh. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how to use the two rivers running into Bangladesh to control the flow and flood their unsuspecting neighbours in Bangladesh.See
http://www.bangladesh-web.com/view.php?hidRecord=22939I have been informed by two reliable Bangladeshi brothers, one of them being an expert in water management, about the sad state of affairs due to cruel and illegal actions of their big neighbour.
